Draw poker

The most ancient form of poker is Draw poker (eng. DRAW POKER). Traditionally, this card game was considered home, as these rules are not used for tournament battles, because of its simplicity. The alternate name of the game is "California". The origin of the name is associated with the adoption in the United States in 1910 of the law prohibiting gambling. The head of the Department of justice of the state of California, who was a fan of Draw poker, said that winning the game depends on the level of skill and has nothing to do with fortune. The patronage of such a high-ranking official, predetermined the fate of the game, which did not fall under the ban.

Methods of starting the game

The game process begins with the selection of the dealer, whose duties include the distribution of cards. Subsequently, all players perform this function in turn, passing the right of honor in the clockwise direction. Directly the game, you can start in two ways. The first option involves the use of the method of initial blind bets made simultaneously by two players: the big blind and the small blind.

As in the classic versions of poker, bets are made by people sitting directly behind the dealer in the direction of the clock.

The size of the small blind is 1/2 of the big blind, as in other versions of the game.

The second option is related to the method of betting "ante". Dealer distribution of cards, accompanied by the implementation of all players bets in the common pot-entrance fees. It is for this money in the future and is fighting.

The main actions of the participants

Players get their hands on 5 cards and begin to trade, and then spend the standard circles trade with the following actions:

• equalization-the big blind bet, which is allowed to be made in the first round, at the initial blind draw;
• throwing off cards-the decision is made in the event that the participant considers his chances insignificant and does not want to risk money;
• promotion-participants who are confident in their victory or decide to bluff, make an additional bet, exceeding the amount previously bet by other players;
• re-increase – if someone has already raised the rate, you can do it again, laying out an even greater amount of money;
• VA-Bank-participant puts all available funds;
• consent-the player has made the maximum bet and does not plan to increase it;

Play

The player entitled to the first word is determined depending on the technique chosen to start the draw. If blind bets were used, the player sitting on the left hand of the player who placed the big blind has priority. The right words in the future is transmitted in the course of the clock hands. When the "ante" technique is preferred, the first word is spoken by the person on the left hand of the dealer.

It happens that none of the participants is not ready to play for a raise, because they are not sure of their cards. The situation is resolved through a replay, which consists in the dealer collecting cards and re-dealing. Participants add to the ante they made earlier additional initial bets, called ri-ante.
This procedure can be performed an unlimited number of times until one of the players does not dare to take the floor.

However, this scheme of the beginning of the game is not particularly popular. Mostly prefer the system "jacks open". The right of the first word is given to the participant who has a pair of jacks or the highest combination. The trading round is opened after the participants have leveled the maximum bet.

When in the course of the trade, the player's bet is not equalized, and his rivals pass, he is the winner and can take all the money from the Bank.

The rules of the game provide for a round in which the cards are replaced (this is the main difference between Draw poker from other types). The participant can change any number of cards available in his hands (from one to five). The operation is performed in order to collect the best combination, immediately after it proceed to the final trading round. After its completion, the cards are opened and the winner is determined, having the strongest combination on his hands.

Determining the size of bets

The game of Draw poker is of 3 types:

• limit-a strictly defined bet is made, while the increase also occurs, for a predetermined amount;

• pot limit-players during the trading rounds are given the opportunity to place bets in the specified range. The minimum is the size of the big blind (the alternative may be the size of the previous bet), and the maximum is the amount in the pot. This system is applicable in the game with blind bets. If the "ante" method was used, the minimum limit is the size of the bet made by the participant who has the weakest card in his hands;

• no limit-allowed bets of any size, up to the game all-in;
